Corserv Community Care frees up hospital beds

This fast-moving and unprecedented situation has catapulted the care sector across Cornwall into the centre of the response to the coronavirus outbreak. Corserv Community Care Services has been instrumental in identifying and opening up additional beds across the county to relieve the pressure from hospitals.

Our STEPS and Corcare adult social care teams have set-up two discharge lounges in hotels that have been temporarily closed due to government restrictions. In just one week these additional beds were established and managed in partnership with Stay at Home.

The first discharge lounge opened up at The Carnmarth Hotel, Newquay, and this was quickly followed by Penventon Park Hotel, Redruth. A third hotel is being considered at the moment. These beds will provide vital additional capacity to the hospitals as we continue to see the rise in demand for beds.

StepsAll hotel employees have been provided with additional training and support from our Care teams and are now working as part of the larger team offering this vital service and keeping our residents safe.

As the pressure in the system continues to escalate, these additional beds will be critical to ensure those with the greatest need are provided with our vital support.

We are looking for more care workers to join our teams during these unprecedented times. If you feel that you could make a difference to the lives of elderly and vulnerable residents, please register your interest on our wbsite.
