Neighbourhood Caretaker Team Success

The Neighbourhood Caretaker Team was formed earlier this year to create clean, safe communal environments across all estates managed by Cornwall Housing. 

“The Caretaker team maintains communal spaces for our residents which includes drying areas, pathways and areas around garages," said Alastair Spencer, Cornwall Housings’ Neighbourhood Services Manager. “The team work throughout Cornwall and work closely with community groups and residents to ensure our estates and communal spaces are well managed and cared for.”

Many residents have been in touch to give their complements for the work the Neighbourhood Caretaker Team have completed in their communities, including a recent project around the St Margaret’s Crescent area in Bodmin.

“The team have been working really hard on the footpaths and steps around the rear of the properties,” added Alastair. “This reactive work was in direct response to residents who contacted us about the area. Our team got to work, transforming the spaces and have received fantastic praise from the residents.” 

“This is a good example of the challenging work the team is undertaking, resulting in huge improvements around our tenants’ homes.”

Cornwall Housing carries out regular inspections of our estates to identify areas that require work to ensure they are safe as well as appealing. Our aim is to deliver safe environments for residents by ensuring internal and external communal areas are clean, safe and become desirable places to live.

Cornwall Housing would like to increase the size of this team to enable them to cover more areas on a regular basis so they can achieve a higher standard of maintenance around their communal areas.

“Cornwall Housing would welcome feedback from residents where they have concerns about the maintenance of the communal grounds in the area in which they live.” added Alastair. “We are then able to prioritise the tasks of the Neighbourhood Caretaker team to address those areas which are in greatest need of improvement.
