A team from Cornwall Council got stuck into the gardening work at Treskerby Playing Fields near Scorrier last month.
On a usual day, they work in the Customer and Business Operations Team, either working from home or in the office. They were pleased to have such blue sky whilst they were hard at work, volunteering their valuable time and effort to support the Urban Green Shoots 'Making Space for Nature' scheme funded by the UK government through the Shared Prosperity Fund.
Working alongside them were Melissa Ralph, Making Space for Nature Manager and Kelly Strange, Urban Ranger who work in the running of Urban Green Shoots with Cormac.
Also joined that day and pictured, two former members of the Landscape Team for the West, Jacqui and Howard. This was during their final week, spent out in a flower bed under the sun.
Dave Coulthard from Cornwall Council said:
“It's a worthwhile cause and we can spend time together in person. Sometimes we only see each other virtually so it makes a real difference to communicate over activity and get to know each other in an outdoor space.”
The Treskerby site has benefitted from new benches, trees and beds of pollinator plants. With the help of everyone involved, these parks across Cornwall are being transformed into spaces that are visually stunning, properly accessible and full of glorious wildlife.
