Recently, members of Corserv’s HR Operations, Communications & Engagement team rolled up their sleeves to join forces with Seaton’s dedicated volunteers to help maintain the much-loved Seaton Sensory Garden near Looe.
The team spent the day trimming hedges, clearing pathways, cutting back overgrown plants, and even building a ‘dead hedge’ – a sustainable way to recycle natural materials and support local wildlife. The session was expertly facilitated by the Cormac Volunteer Team, with special thanks to Rebecca Dickson, Community Partnership Officer, and Kelly Strange, Urban Ranger, for their expert guidance and support.
Located close to the shingle beach and shoreline, Seaton Sensory Garden is a peaceful community space designed to stimulate the senses through the sights, sounds, and scents of nature. It's lovingly maintained by a small group of committed local volunteers, and the extra help from the team didn’t go unnoticed.
Rebecca Dickson commented: “The regular volunteers were absolutely singing the teams praises: it provided a much-appreciated boost.”
Cat Pritchard, HR Director for Corserv remarked: “The day was thoroughly enjoyable and it was incredibly rewarding to see the tangible impact of our collective efforts. We left feeling proud and energised.”
This day of action is a great reminder of the power of corporate volunteering, not just in supporting our communities, but in bringing teams together and creating a sense of shared purpose.
