We’re thrilled to share that Christine Laessing, Cormac Design Engineer, has been highly commended in the prestigious Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) South West Apprentice of the Year Award.
Christine is a focused and insightful problem solver, and final year civil engineer apprentice studying with the University of Exeter. At Cormac, she has delivered innovative infrastructure solutions, championed inclusive team practices and upheld high professional standards under pressure. As a project 50 Apprenticeship Ambassador, she also helps support others on their apprenticeship journeys, driven by a passion for sustainable development and making a lasting impact through civil engineering.
The judges praised Christine’s innovative thinking and proactive approach, stating: “Christine has demonstrated that the most important engineering instinct is to identify a common problem and find a solution. Her work improving gully cover design could influence highways across the UK—showing how taking responsibility can lead to real change.”
