Corserv’s Executive Leadership Team recently put away their computers and pulled on their work gloves to find out what it’s like to ‘volunteer with Cormac’.

Hosted by Countryside officer Pete Gardener, and Partnership Officer Rebecca Dickson, the team spent the day at Bodmin Beacon on 20 November to carry out much needed basic maintenance to a newly planted woodland area on the site. It may not be widely known, but little tasks such as pulling away grass and weeds from saplings can have a real impact on the likelihood of these small trees reaching maturity, and with 10,000 saplings to attend to, there was always going to be plenty to keep the team occupied.

Neil Edmond, Corserv’s CEO said: “It was interesting to see how these small actions can make a real difference to the success of sites such as these. Being on site also gave an opportunity to learn more about how all of us, as residents of Cornwall, can link to the Cormac Volunteer Scheme and make a difference in our own local areas.
