A career dedicated to caring: Lynn McNeill recognised among Cornwall's best

We're delighted to celebrate Lynn McNeill, Senior Support Worker with the STEPS East Team, who has been nominated for Support Worker of the Year ahead of the Proud to Care Awards 2026.

Lynn's nomination recognises her outstanding commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred support and the incredible difference she has made to the lives of people across Cornwall throughout her 24-year career with Corserv Care.

Reflecting on the news, Lynn said:

"I was moved to tears when I read it, as I know what an honour it is to be recognised in this way amongst so many dedicated people across Cornwall and within other agencies. To be nominated is something I feel incredibly proud of and deeply grateful for. For me, this role is more than a job; it is a vocation. I genuinely love what I do, supporting people and delivering compassionate, person-centred care."

Lynn was keen to recognise the colleagues who have supported and inspired her throughout her career, highlighting the strength of the STEPS East Team and the wider Corserv Care family.

"We have an amazing team, and every single member shares the same values and ethos, delivering care with compassion, dignity, respect and professionalism to the highest standards throughout Cornwall."

Lynn also paid tribute to colleagues past and present, remembering the mentors who helped shape her career and thanking those who continue to support her today. In particular, Lynn expressed her gratitude to Janice Ayres, Lynette Parsons and Mandy Payne for their encouragement and belief in her throughout her journey as a Senior Support Worker.

Lynn also recognised the invaluable contribution of Corserv Care's Out of Hours Team, praising their dedication and the vital role they play in supporting both colleagues and service users.

At the heart of Lynn's message was a heartfelt thank you to the people she has supported over the years.

“Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and allowing us to be part of your lives. It is a privilege that I never take for granted. I feel truly honoured. Thank you.”
