We are proud to share and celebrate the recent achievements of several of our colleagues, who have recently become Engineering Technician Members of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). This accomplishment reflects not only their technical expertise and commitment to the profession, but also the high standards of professionalism that they bring to our organisation in their work.
| Ashley STORER, Eng Tech MICE |
Ashley is a Lead Streetworks Inspector working for Cornwall Highways and based his report on the requirements of the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991, and the communication and compliance required to ensure that Statutory Undertakers and thier contractors ensure that all work completed is within the guidelines and legislation. |
| Josh HOOLE-JACKSON, Eng Tech MICE |
Josh works in the Cormac Highways and Environment team and sat his review recently based on his work in that team, for his presentation he focused on the complexity and communications required to programme the patching of the access to the Emergency services located at a single location in Liskeard. |
| Sara MARCHESINI, Eng Tech MICE |
Sara gave the reviewers a presentation on her work as a Senior Technician in Infrastructure Design, where she has to provide solutions for problems associated with the highway. Her presentation focused on a unique parking issue in Redruth, whilst her report showed how her day-to-day work of the last couple of years has allowed her to meet the ICE attributes. |
| Thomas TRACEY, Eng Tech MICE |
Tom as a Senior Technician in Infrastructure Design presented to his reviewers his work to rationalise the signing from the A30 to St Ives to manage the new traffic management proposed for the town. His work on the Town Deals schemes and the Countywide 20mph Rollout used his engineering knowledge and his communication skills to best effect and was part of his successful presentation and review. |
| Claire STOCKS, Eng Tech MICE |
Claire produced her report for the reviewers based on her work as a Steward in the Tin Mine riddled west of the county. Her presentation highlighted the issues that she faces and the overwhelming impact that dealing with mining associated collapses has on her highway maintenance budget. |
This achievement required each applicant to compile a comprehensive report demonstrating how their work meets the objectives set for Technician Membership. At the review stage, they delivered a presentation on their report and engaged in a professional discussion with two ICE reviewers who, as expected, confirmed that they had met the required standard. A special thank you to Michelle Cockburn of the ICE for delivering the ‘Eng Tech Intense Course’, which inspired and supported these submissions.
Well done one and all — an outstanding achievement!
