Two Care Day Opportunities Centres are celebrating the arrival of an exciting new piece of sensory equipment that's already making a big impact.
Recently, Park View (Helston) and The Bridge (Falmouth) were able to purchase a Soundbeam system thanks to successfully obtaining grant funding, and the benefits are already being felt.
Soundbeam is a multi award-winning, touch-free assistive music technology device that turns physical movements into sounds and music, enabling users to create and explore music in an accessible, engaging and highly inclusive way.
Service users at both centres have a wide range of abilities and interests, and the Soundbeam system has proven to be a big hit across the board. Because it can be used in a variety of ways, it allows individuals of all abilities to explore music at their own pace and develop new skills.
Robert Blunt, Support Worker at Park View, described it as “a voyage of discovery and invention”, with sessions filled with smiles, laughter and positive interaction. Service users are engaging enthusiastically with the new piece of technology, enjoying the freedom to experiment with sound and movement that feels natural and empowering.
This a fantastic example of how receiving grant funding such as this can make a tangible, meaningful and significant difference to the lives of the people we support, and we look forward to this innovative sensory equipment providing many hours of enjoyment, creativity, development and expression.
