Making Cornwall's countryside more accessible: Gweek Downs gains new boardwalk

after-may-26

Visitors to Gweek Downs can now enjoy easier access through one of the area's woodland routes thanks to a fantastic improvement delivered by Cormac's Countryside Team West.

Earlier this year, the team implemented a new boardwalk across the head of a Cornish river, helping to resolve a longstanding issue that had made the route difficult to navigate, particularly during the wetter winter months.

Following numerous reports of boggy conditions, the team worked closely with the landowner and secured capital funding from Cornwall Council to deliver a practical, long-term solution.

The new boardwalk provides a safe, durable crossing, making the route more accessible for everyone enjoying the countryside.

The project is a great example of partnership working in action and the positive impact it can have in our communities. By listening to feedback, working collaboratively, and delivering a lasting improvement, the team has helped protect a well-used route while making it easier for more people to enjoy the natural environment.

A huge well done to everyone involved in planning and delivering the project; your hard work has created a lasting improvement that will benefit the local community and visitors to the countryside for years to come.
