Summer sea expeditions for Blantyre Day Centre users

Over the summer, service users Peter, Charlie and David from Blantyre Day Centre had an amazing opportunity to experience kayaking at Pentewan Beach in St Austell, supported by staff members Nicola and Jasmine.

This opportunity was partially funded by Mencap - Our Active Community. Qualified instructors from Wild Wonder and Wisdom led two sessions and the intrepid trio not only kayaked around the bay, but also ventured out to look at some caves. Charlie was in his own kayak and bravely explored a dark cave on his own, later saying:

"This made me super proud, I enjoyed it and it was fun"

Peter added:

“I have not done this before, I liked learning how to paddle and going around the sea without falling off!”

All three individuals truly stepped out of their comfort zone and proved to themselves what they could achieve during this activity. Well done to everybody, looks like you all had heaps of fun!
