Contract of employment
It is a legal requirement that all apprentices have a contract of employment and you will have normally signed this contract prior to starting employment.
Pay
Your level of pay will have been explained to you as part of the application process and is in line with nationally agreed rates. At the end of the first year, your annual salary will increase to £15,559.
Holidays
In line with company policy all apprentices are entitled to 23 days paid leave plus 8 public holidays per year.
Workplace induction
Within your first week you will be given information regarding the company’s policies on health and safety, welfare, equality and diversity, terms and conditions of employment and how your training will be delivered.
Hours worked
Apprenticeships are based on full time working hours and can be a mixture of time in the workplace and time at college. The standard working week is of 37 hours. If you are under 18 then you can work for a maximum of 8 hours in a day and 40 hours in a week; this includes time in college.
A real job with training
Apprentices are given real responsibilities, within a team environment. They will also gain a qualification and valuable skills and experience.
Working towards a qualification
Apprentices are supported by a training provider (a university or college), that will help them achieve their qualification and make sure they complete their apprenticeship.
Personal development
In addition to your employment specific training you will also attend sessions which will help you to develop as an individual and increase your value to an employer.
Work related qualifications
Corserv will provide you with any additional training and qualifications which we consider are relevant to your work.
You will gain a job
Apprentices can work for any of the companies. If they change it’s usually because they’re able to compete for a better job, perhaps with more pay or more responsibility.
