Celebrating another Green Flag success at Drake's Place

Cormac is celebrating another Green Flag Award success at Drake's Place Gardens and Reservoir, helping the University of Plymouth secure the accolade for a second consecutive year since taking over maintenance of the site in March 2025. The Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces, recognising sites that are well managed, welcoming and environmentally sustainable.

Since taking on the contract, the team has helped Drake's Place achieve Green Flag status in both 2025/26 and 2027. Alongside maintaining the site, the team has introduced a biodiversity-focused approach to grassland management, allowing wildflowers to flourish and create habitats for wildlife. Working with University staff and student gardening groups, the team has also helped harvest wildflower seed, which has been used to enhance grassland areas across the wider campus.

Trevor Jones, Environment Area Manager, said: 

"Achieving Green Flag status for a second consecutive year is a fantastic result and reflects the hard work and dedication of the whole team. We're proud to be helping the University enhance biodiversity while maintaining such an important and well-loved green space."

Dating back to 1825, Drake's Place Reservoir and Gardens remain an important part of Plymouth's heritage and a valued green space for students, staff and the wider community.
