The Echo Centre was recently transformed into a pirate's paradise as clients and colleagues enjoyed a fantastic day of pirate-themed fun, dressing up, games, and adventure.
With temperatures soaring on the day, staff adapted the planned activities to ensure everyone could safely take part while keeping the focus firmly on clients' rehabilitation journeys. The pirate-themed activities included walking the plank, cannonball throwing, shooting the parrot, hooking the octopus, and ‘Don’t Spill the Grog!'.
Echo-goers were split into teams and competed to collect doubloons and gold coins throughout the day, with activities adapted wherever needed to ensure people with different abilities could join in the fun.
The day also featured a pirate photo booth, giving everyone the chance to capture some memorable moments, as well as a tattoo parlour - thankfully, only the temporary kind!
After working up an appetite, everyone sat down to enjoy a banquet feast at lunchtime, following a pirate-themed quiz. A treasure hunt then provided the final physical activity challenge of the day before everyone settled down to sing sea shanties together, accompanied by two Echo clients playing their guitars.
The day serves as a brilliant example of how the team at Echo can combine fun, creativity, and rehabilitation to create an engaging experience that everyone can get involved in.
