We're pleased to share that works to repair and protect Tywardreath 6 are now complete.

The popular public right of way runs alongside Treesmill Stream, linking St Andrew's duck pond to Treesmill. Over many years, riverbank erosion caused repeated breaches, leading to seasonal path closures and access challenges for local walkers.

To secure the route for the future, Cormac’s countryside service installed timber revetment along the one-mile path to strengthen and protect the riverbank. Vegetation and tree clearance were also carried out, and the route was resurfaced with stone to create a wider, more accessible path that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The project was delivered in partnership with the Environment Agency, retaining the path while allowing controlled overspills into the surrounding wet woodland.

The works have also delivered environmental benefits. Restoring the riverbank has helped recover the stream's gravel bed by increasing flow and reducing silt build-up. Early signs show an increase in brown trout, with improved conditions for spawning.

Feedback from local walkers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many welcoming both the improved accessibility and the long-term protection of this valued route.
